Established in 1992 and recognised in Europe and worldwide, the EU Ecolabel is a label of environmental excellence awarded to products and services that meet high environmental standards throughout their life cycle: from raw material extraction, through production, distribution and disposal. The EU Ecolabel promotes the circular economy by encouraging manufacturers to generate less waste and CO2 during the manufacturing process. The EU Ecolabel criteria also encourage companies to develop sustainable products that are easy to repair and recycle.

Products bearing the Ecolabel are more environmentally friendly than similar products without the certificate. To be Ecolabelled, products must meet strict requirements in terms of resource use, emission reduction, health and environmental safety, recycling and sustainability.

The Ecolabel label can be found on a variety of products, including cleaning and maintenance detergents, toilet paper, etc. These ECOLABEL certified products can be used without special equipment such as gloves and protective masks.
